COURSE DESCRIPTION: As part of the First-Year Experience, the Trek First-Year Seminar is designed to assist students in adapting to college life at Georgia College & State University, to become familiar with the resources to assist them in achieving their goals, and to provide opportunities to research majors and career fields. Concurrently, the course is structured in a manner conducive to assisting students in the development of academic skills, including such concepts as improving studying and learning strategies, setting and achieving academic goals, time management, and self-management. The credit hours earned in this course may not be used in the total hours required for graduation.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

As a result of this course, you will…

REQUIRED FIRST-YEAR STUDENT MODULES

GCSU requires first-year students to complete five modules:

1.      AlcoholEDU Parts I & II,

2.      Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates,

3.      Hazing Prevention,

4.      Kognito,

5.      Get Inclusive.

You likely completed most of these prior to move in. There will be a part II of AlcoholEDU & Sexual Assault Prevention due during the Fall semester, watch your email for details. Contact GCSU Health Educator Rachel.pope@gcsu.edu with questions about these modules. If you do not satisfy both parts you will receive a grade of “I” (incomplete) for the course.

ALCOHOLEDU AND SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION FOR UNDERGRADUATES

AlcoholEDU empowers students to make well-informed decisions and provides some simple strategies to help keep you and your friends safe. Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates promotes student health and safety through a program that educates students about the elements of healthy relationships, the importance of sexual consent, and the role of bystanders in creating safe, healthy communities. Georgia College requires that each student in First-Year Seminars complete these courses. < https://www.gcsu.edu/studentlife/alcoholedu>

You will receive an email with a unique link for each person.  The email address it comes from is automated-message@everfi-foundry,net
